CAS is committed to meaningfully engaging youth and helping them find their voice in the HIV movement. Our goal is to connect youth, youth workers and community-based organizations serving youth with each other to ensure that youth have the information and supports they need in their own communities on HIV/AIDS and related issues.

In a clear demonstration of its commitment, CAS has enshrined in its organizational bylaws a position of Youth Director reserved for a young person with lived experience on its Board of Directors.  The Youth Director has in turn created a Youth Council with representatives across the country to help guide CAS in its activities involving young PLWHIV.

Over the years, CAS has led and participated in several national programs with and for youth, including:

  • the development of a tool to increase the capacity of CBOs to engage youth in their services, developed in partnership with YouthCO.
  • In 2012, a national youth committee created the 9th module of the GIPA Training Toolkit: Stepping Out, Getting Involved: Integrating Youth Living with HIV.

In 2015, twenty-two youth living with HIV, representing all regions of the country, were invited to participate in our first annual National Youth Forum in Ottawa.

The publications, reports, facts sheets and toolkits below include information that are particularly relevant to youth issues surrounding HIV.
